Entira Family Clinics now provides interested patients with the opportunity to undergo the RightMed® PGx test offered by OneOme®.
Did you know that medications work differently for different people? OneOme, co-founded by Mayo Clinic, created the RightMed test to help people find medications more likely to work for them based on their genes. Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genetics may affect an individual’s response to medications. PGx testing analyzes a patient's DNA to give doctors and pharmacists information that may help them optimize medication selection for each patient, reduce trial and error in the prescribing process and decrease the likelihood of adverse drug reactions.
The RightMed test is a simple cheek swab – the sample is sent to OneOme’s Minneapolis based CLIA and CAP certified lab. Once the results are processed, Entira providers work with PGx pharmacists to determine if a medication change should be made.
Julie England, MD, said, "As a family medicine provider and OneOme's Vice President of Medical Affairs, it excites me to see other primary care providers utilizing precision medicine services and prioritizing pharmacogenomics (PGx). Entira Family Clinic's choice to offer PGx testing shows a commitment to excellence in healthcare here in the Twin Cities."
Entira Family Clinics are the greater Minneapolis area’s independent physician-led family practice and after-hours clinics – providing comprehensive, patient-centered, medical services in your neighborhood. As compassionate and precision-focused health care innovators, PGx testing is one of the ways Entira providers practice personalized medicine for patients within the clinic network.
